These were the well labelled "Rare Refractors" from 1997-98 Topps Finest. This card has the gold stamped "/289" but no leading number. 

Sometimes these cards are referred to as "test refractors" or "replacement refractors" when they are missing all or a portion of the number. The card is complete, and includes both the peel and remove coating on the front, and the refractor treatment on the back of the card, so if it was a test it was certainly one of the last versions before release. If it was a replacement it would have been stored at Topps in case an issued version was damaged out of the pack. Then upon receipt of the damaged card, Topps would send this uncirculated card out and stamp it with the replacement number.

The card has been kept in a safe since I got it over a decade ago. It does not suffer from typical green discoloration. It is still as gorgeous as when I first got it!
